Saponins
These have a soapy feel to them and take their name from the Latin word sapo meaning soap. The herb soapwort produces foam when added to water and can be used as a mild fabric detergent. They are used in natural skincare to create mild yet effective face washes. These are effective without drying out the skin like the chemical based facial cleansers.
